The new feature on the app helps users to find nearby electric charging stations. This can help a lot since lot of drivers do deal with range anxiety. According to the company, this feature is all set to roll out globally over coming weeks.
“By adding up-to-date EV charging information to the Waze map, it’s even easier to charge your car and get help finding where or when you’ll come across the next station,” Waze said in its blog post.
The company said that its community map editors are leveraging data to ensure location accuracy of EV charging stations. “Thanks to local Map Editors from our Waze Community, EV data is reviewed and updated in real-time to provide the most accurate, comprehensive information to the map.” the company said in its blog post.
Waze, owned by Google was merged in December with Google Maps as a cost cutting measure. Up-to date EV charging stations information could help not only the consumers but also companies to strategically place their chargers in a location where demand is high.
With respect to usability and reviews of this feature by Waze we would need to wait for some time. We will keep you updated on the same.
