Tata Motors which enjoys a dominant market share in the EV passenger market is pushing big on their EV sales. The new showrooms would cater to 10 cities in India. This move could make Tata Motors first traditional car maker to have separate showrooms for electric outlets.
Currently, EV passenger portfolio of Tata Motors includes Tata Nexon EV(Max and Prime Variants), Tata Tigor EV, Tata Tiago EV. Tata Nexon EV has received a thunderous response from EV buyers. Tata Tigor too has a decent sales number while Tiago EV which was launched this year is gathered 20000 bookings in a single month.
Tata Motors also has two EV line up – Tata Punch EV and Tata Altroz EV. Tata Altroz EV was showcased at the Auto Expo 2019, however we do not know the exact launch date of Altroz EV’s production model. If sources are to be believed Tata Motors would be launching Tata Punch EV in 2023. Tata Punch ICE variants have been received quite well so Tata Motors would like to capitalize on the nameplate “Punch” by introducing its EV variant.
Currently Tata Motors have their EV portfolio which is catered to people spending Rs.10-Rs.20 Lakhs. However in two years the upper limit could be Rs.30 Lakhs, thanks to Tata Harrier EV which is due to be launched in 2024. Tata has also planned electric versions of Tata Curvv and Tata Sierra.
Exclusive EV showrooms experience could very well add to the customer experience but it remains to be seen as to how Tata Motors would cater to the changing consumer needs. Tata Motors has planned target of 1,00,00 EV by 2024 and plans to introduce several EV like Tata Avinya and electric commercial vehicles.
