The Electronic Giant Xiaomi is all set to launch its electric vehicle soon. Reportedly the Xiaomi car would be called “Modena”.
CEO and Co-founder Lei Jung has said that winter tests have been successful. He expects Xiaomi’s electric car to launch in first half 2024.
Xiaomi electric car MS11(Modena) designs have been leaked online. The car gets a sharp LED pair. From the design it appers to be a sporty sedan. Also the design inspiration of Modena looks to be heavily influenced from BYD Seal.
According to some reports the vehicle could be equipped with self driving technology. Xiaomi car Modena would be positioned against Tesla Model 3.
Details regarding its powertrain and prices are not yet out. Lei Jung had revealed last year that they have invested over 3.3 billion Yuan for the development of self drive technology. He also added that the R&D department now has 2300 people.
With the introduction of electric car, Xiaomi could become the first electronic giant ahead of Apple and Sony to launch EVs. Sony and Honda did unveil their car “Afeela” at the CES 2023. But we are yet to get clarity on their production status. Looks like in EV industry we could soon see tussle between Auto Companies and Electronic Giants or we could see partnerships between Traditional automotive companies and electronic companies. With possibilities like these the space is heating like anything.
