Volkswagen ID 1 could be electric version of Polo(though we are not sure whether it will carry the name). Volkswagen had recently unveiled ID .2 all. ID 1 will be positioned below ID 2 making it the cheapest electric car from VW. New sketch images show ID.1 will have futuristic looks and timeless design(something that VW specializes in)
The car will sit on FWD MEB platform, same platform on which ID.2 all will be based. However ID.1 would be smaller in dimensions. The ID.1 is expected to cost around $20,000 and is expected to launch in 2027.
For size, the ID.1 will be similar to existing Polo. In terms of design it will carry the same design language as was showcased with ID.2 all. In terms of power train the vehicle is expected to get 243 hp motor that could give range of nearly 400 km.
The ID.1 could also have Skoda version as well. Volkswagen is betting big on electric vehicles and has some ambitious plans set for 2030. Introducing an affordable electric vehicle associated with VW brand could help EV adoption especially in price sensitive countries.
We are yet to get full details of ID 1 but we will keep you updated with latest news regarding ID 1 once official confirmation is made by the company.
